It’s hard to pin down Salamoff to one particular profession. A twenty-year veteran
of the industry, he has found simultaneous success as a Special F/X Make-Up
Artist, Screenwriter, Producer, Director, Author and recently as a Film
Executive.
Born in Natick, MA, he was raised on a healthy diet of sci-fi and horror from the age of five. After high school, he attended film school at USC where Salamoff parlayed his obsession for genre filmmaking into a successful run as a Special F/X Make-Up Artist. In his years doing FX, he worked on over forty films, ten television series, and numerous commercials.
Having been involved with The Academy of Science-Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films for over seven years as their Director of Operations (1989-1997), he produced the 22nd, 23rd, 33rd and 34th Annual Saturn Awards and is currently their Film Moderator.
His writing credits include THE DEAD HATE THE LIVING, THE ST. FRANCISVILLE EXPERIMENT and the Sci-Fi Channel original movie ALIEN SIEGE. He is also author of two non-fiction books: ON THE SET: The Hidden Rules of Movie Making Etiquette and The Complete DVD Book (co-written with Chris Gore). He is also writing Graphic Novels as well as five Comic Book series including LOGAN’S RUN for Bluewater Comics coming out in late 2009.
In 2005, Salamoff became V.P. of Production for David Lancaster Prod. working as a Production Executive on such films as Wes Craven's THE BREED and HOLLOW MAN 2. After a successful merger with BOLD Films, he became their V.P. of Production and worked on BOBBY, COME EARLY MORNING and MINI'S FIRST TIME as well as serving as Associate Producer on STARSHIP TROOPERS: MARAUDER. After leaving BOLD Films, Paul accepted the position of President of Production for Rat Bastard Productions.
